SAP PI Server kernel

Dear Experts,

Would like to check whether there are any dependencies on support packages level if we are to upgrade our SAP Kernel from version 7.11 to 7.20 ? Is there a minimum support package level which the server needs to have before upgrading the kernel to 7.20 ? (kernel <7.20 will be out of support soon)

Anything to take note when upgrading the kernel from 7.11 to 7.20 Ext UC ?

Appreciate any expert comments, thank you in advance.

Hi,

>>>>7.11 to 7.20 ?

there is no PI 7.20 version of PI - so please don't do that

you should only upgrade accordingly to the SAP prepared paths:

from 7.11 to 7.3 or to 7.31 directly

Hi,

You can just upgrade your kernel 7.11 to 720, it is downward-compatible. All our PI 7.11 systems are running on 720 kernel now.

as usual, backup your kernel before upgrade.

hi,

sorry - I didn't read the Q correctly

Nicholas is 100% right of course - our 7.11 is also on 7.20 kernel as per screenshot

See Note 1636252 - Installing a 7.20 kernel in SAP Web AS 7.00/7.01/7.10/7.11

- Release 7.10 or 7.11: When using the SAPJVM 5.1, you have to
install the latest patch collection, at least PC 58 (Build 5.1.074).

- SAP Kernel 7.20 (EXT) should have at least Patch Level 201.
