For a distributed server setup (4 portal app servers & 3 ECC app servers), will it be necessary to use a server wide SSL to allow SSO ?
In what scenarios do we use a system wide SSL ? i.e. CN = SID for all the servers.
Any clue.. please suggest ?
Thanks,
Jay
Its not mandatory to have SSL server wide for SSO, there is no technical restriction. However its better to have SSL for additional layer of security.
You can have SSL from internet -> Reverse Proxy -> upto portal..Then terminate the SSL..Between Portal and ECC you have have normal HTTP/RFC as these will be in your secure LAN (I am assuming)..
