Installing the Shadow Instance (Phase INITPUT_PRE)

Hi Experts,

During an upgrade of SAP ERP on Microsoft Cluster we must switch over the

resources to additional node due to a network problem on a cluster node.

We carry on the upgrade tasks with SAPUp on the other node. Now we're realising that Shadow

instance service is not installed on that server.

We can install the shadow intance service, in order to move forward ?

Is it run sapservice.exe, enter the parameters and that's it ?

No harm on trying as your other node is not usable, right?. If its just the service missing you can easily rebuild it sapstartsrv.exe and enter the details and try to start the shadow instance.

In anycase you should read carefully the instructions on the upgrade guide regarding best practice under HA scenario.

Hi Juan,

Switch over Sap Resource groups on an upgrade is not recommended so we have reset and start from scratch to avoid issues related with this matter.
