Priority in PP/DS PDS not working as expected

Former Member

We have 2 production versions A and B for product X both ion plant location 1000.

We want system to select PDS A by default.

So, I went to transaction PDS_MAINT for material X in ECC and maintained Priority 1 for production version A and Priority 2 for production version B at header level.

I did CURTO_CREATE in ECC to transfer priority information to APO. I checked and found priority information in APO.

When I create sales order material X in ECC and executed product heuristic in APO, planned order created has PDS B.

I expected planned order to have PDS based on priority.

Can you pl let me know if I am missing something?

Thanks,

Srini

Hello Srini,

Please note the source of supply is picked on various factors like Quaota arrangement,Priority and cost.

In the above mentioned scenario you have prioritised the PDS A but have you maintained any quotations also it depends on the in PP/DS,  if the PDS with highest priority cannot meet the demand on time, the system will try to find a source of supply that can cover the demand on time and use it instead of the one with highest priority.

Please refer the link for help on source of supply:

Hope this helps

We are not using quota arrangements.

This seems to be due to higher priority PDS not being able to meet demand on the delivery data of sales order.

Is there anyway we can ensure that PDS A is always used in planned order by default?

Planner can then change supply source PDS) manually if needed to PDS B.

Thanks,

Srini

Check for lot size selection parameters used in Production version and in master recipe.. Product heuristic will respect only lot size paramater and not PDS priority constraint.. it will be respected only through opti run..

So select default PDS as A, maintained the lot size range in Production version accordingly and same it will be for Master recipe.

If you define for the PDS A a lot size range from 0 to 5.000.000 and for the PDS B a lot size range from 5.000.000 to 999.999.999, the PDS A is always going to be used for planned orders with a lot size below 5.000.000 regardless the priority. The problem is that you cannot later manually change to PDS B because the order’s lot size is not included in the lot size range.

Hii Srini,

Yes it is possible to always pick up the Higher Priority of PDS. make the PV such a way that it can pick up any lot size and have a way ahead of future validity

Example: PDS A -priority 1- lot size from 0 to 999999999... and validity up to 31/12/9999.

PDS B - Priority 2- Should only be chosen manually., can be maintained constrained based,
