SAP SD Next delivery date reservation

Dear Experts,

Please can somebody explain me the process of material reservation is SD, for instance, when creating a sales order for 11 Qty we check the material availability, lets say the confirmed quantity is 10 EA, and the next available date is after 1 week, in case the sales order can wait i.e. delivery after 10 days, can the system reserve this remaining 1 qty for this sales order once it reaches the warehouse? and how does it work ?

Hi Omar,

For this you have to carry out availablity chek so system confirm the date and allow for delevery on the confirmed date.

Dear Omar,

i think you should set some parameter in Availability check and in material master as shown below.

path is - Sales And Distribution -> basic function -> availability check and transfer requirements -> Availability check -> Availability check with ATP logic or against planning -> carry out control for availability check. select the appropriate combination and double click tick / un-tick on replenishment lead time as per your requirement,

the purpose of the field -

Check availability without replenishment lead time

Indicates whether, during the availability check, the system checks the replenishment lead time.

Use

Items for which the delivery date falls within the replenishment lead time, but for which there is no inventory, are confirmed for delivery after the replenishment lead time. In the case of items for which the delivery date falls after the end of the replenishment lead time, the system assumes that everything can be confirmed.

Procedure

In the standard version, leave this field blank if you want the system to check the replenishment lead time.

Dependencies

If you want the system to check the replenishment lead time, you should make sure that you have entered a value in at least one of the following three fields in the material master:

• GR (goods receipt) processing time (Purchasing view)

• Planned delivery time (MRP I view)

• GR processing time (MRP II view)

Otherwise, the system confirms every requirement.

The system by itself can't confirm the quantity. Once product reaches the warehouse, then you can highlight the item in the sales order, then click on the availability check button on the bottom. The system will confirm the remaining quantity.

Alternatively you can use t.code V_RA to confirm the open quantity.

how the sales people will know that material is reached to warehouse do they need to check the availability for each item before saving the sales order ? is there a way to create sales order & delivery note then wait the reaming material to reach the warehouse to make sure that at least the confirmed quantity will be reserved
