Hi Friends,
We are in plan of testing the backup and restore of our database. Our environment is windows 2008, MS SQL 2008, and ECC6.0.
We have offline backup of our SAP system.
Now Please tell me the procedure to testing of my backup ( ie restore of my DB).
For that the steps:
1. Download the installation master and Kernel
2. Perform the system copy i.e target system installation
3. Follow the back/restore procedure
I need to perform the below steps before pre-requites:
1, Do I need to offline and detach the existing DB
2. Do I need to rename the folder as *_Old
3. Do I need to rename the <Drive>: usr as usr_old
Please confirm.
Regards,
Venkat

If you are testing the backup, then all you need is another SQL Server 2008 instance with the same drive specification as the initial system. Then use the restore option in sql server management studio to restore.
I don;t think you need to install SAP unless you want to perform a homogenous system copy which is not the case as per your email.
