How to use Exception Aggregation in Key figure to fix the Number of Days

Hi BW Experts,

Currently I need to use Exception Aggregation for 3 Key figures as following:-

1. Number Of Days in Month

2. Number Of Days in Years

I have tried different combinations of Exception Aggregation to so that the Number of Days doesn't add up but its still added up.

Have anyone done this before?

Please share your thoughts.

Many thanks,

Vince

I've learned that To make the number of days "365" not to add up, I need to create an InfoObject and make it as reference characteristic with Cal year/month.

But I am not entirely sure how to go about this.

Any BI Expert mind sharing opinions? or any advices would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Vince,

This'd be correct. Create a CKF with reference characteristic as Cal Year/Month.

Just try with this option and let us know what results you're getting.

Hi Harish,

I have tried creating CKF with reference char as Cal Year/Month.

With different combination of exception aggregation, MIN, MAX, First Value, Last Value, Average, its still add up.

Any other advice on workaround for this?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Vince,

Use Exception Aggregation as Counter for All Detailed Values with reference to 0Cal Year/Month and let us know what you're arriving at.

Hi Harish,

Thanks for the suggestion, but I've manage to get it by creating a Characteristic as a Unique Identifier that Concatenate Company Code, Cal Year/Month, etc.

Then Use that Characteristic as Reference Characteristic in Exception Aggregation.

It works now, But the only thing is that, it causes longer data loading.

Kind regards,

Vince

Hi Vince,

Exception Aggregations can only be applied to calculated key figures.

For more info on the same, check this link.

Hi Harish,

Thanks for the info.

If that's the case, is there a way by using CKF so that the days wont add up?

For example, the InfoCube currently have number of days in Year: 365 days. and in the Cube, every rows will have 365 under that Key Figure.

How do I set it so 365 won't add up?

Thanks alot

Hi Vince,

Use Last Value exception aggregation with reference to the key figure. For all the exception aggregation option, pls check out the link i provided.

These are explained clearly in that document.

Hi Harish,

I have finish reading the Link you gave earlier, thanks for that. however, all the examples cannot apply in this situation.

I have set the Key figure to "Last Value", but which reference Char should I assigned with it?

Many thanks,
