difference between SMICM port and home page url port

Hi

we get a port number when we go to SMICM -> services ....HTTP port

and another port from the home page url  http : //host : port

What is the difference between these 2 ports.....which one is the Java and which is the ABAP port

The SMICM port is the ABAP port, and the homepage port is the Java port.

80* series is for ABAP ports and 50* series i sfor JAVA port.

Generally adapters communicate with the third party servers (applications), and since they reside on JAVA stack, JAVA ports need to be opened(50* series).

But if you want to setup the connection using proxy (directly using Integration engine), then you have to open ABAP ports (80* series).
