Batch numbers enter manually without maintaining these numbers in the MSC1N in the VL31N

Dear All

We have a requirement in the VL31N, while doing the inbound delivery, the batch numbers are updated manually by using match F4. as per the sap we can maintain these numbers in MSC1N, internally or externally. but the system should allow any of the numbers (alpha Numeric) as free text. and, this bath number field now it in the display mode how to activate this field.
