Issue in pre-delivery inspection lot

Dear QM Gurus,

I have a followin issue in the Pre-delivery inspection lot.

Activated inspection type 10 in the material master and control of insp. lot is maintained as one inspection lot for each batch split items.

After delivery preparation, Inspection lots are created for each batch split items, this is normal process. No issue in this.

Sometimes we will prepare delivery for a main line item without batch split and save the delivery, afterwards we will change the delivery quantity  (based on the requirement from customer) and remove batch from the main item and update batch split for this main items. In this case system is behaving two ways,

1. Inspection lots are created for all batch split items - This is normal scenario. No issue in this.

2. Sometimes only one inspection lot is created for all batch split item as partial lot 1, partial lot 2, etc.

Material master also maintained as one inspection lot for each batch split items.This is happening once in 100 th or 500th delivery.We are not able to find out the reason for this. Our busineess also don't want partial lot for delivery items.In the plant level setting also we have maintained as partial lots not supported.

Whether we are doing anything wrong ?

Kindly guide me to solve this issue, since it is a very critical issue.

There is slight confusion :

As per std SAP If in QM view -->inspection type 10 -->Control of Inspection Lot Creation

An inspection lot for each batch split item

   An inspection lot is only created for the main item if the main item has a batch. An inspection lot is created for every batch split  item as soon as the batch is known.

Now if main item has batch & its split then system should create isnepction lot.

So I think it just matter of assignment of batch that is playing role.

Thanks for replying my thread.

In my scenario, first delivery is created with main line item with a batch.

Afterwards we are removing the batch assignment from the main line item and going for a batch split and assigned 2 or 3 batches based on the requirement. Without deleting the batch from main line item, if you click on Batch split, system will give message as

Batch in item 000010 already specified for material 130000050076

So we have to remove batch from the main item and then only we have to go for batch split.

After batch split wrt main line item, save the delivery. Inspection lots are generated for all batch split items, no issue in this.

Sometimes (once in 100th or 500th delivery) only one inspection lot is created with partial lot as partial lot 1, 2,3 ...based on the no.of batch split.

On what basis partial lots are generated wrt to main item.

Did am doing anything wrong ?
