Database size after SGEN

Dear Friends

Version : SM 7.1

DB : SQL server 2008 R3

OS : Windows 2008

I have installed solman 7.1. When I completed my installation the size of database was 35 GB. Then I ran SGEN and the db size become 55 GB. I checked if I could get some space by using database shrink but it shows only few MB's are free.

Can any have idea why this much space it has occupied?

Thanks

Atul

You can check the size of the table REPOLOAD to figure out how much the size has grown because of SGEN.

SAP delivers REPOLOAD table empty or during an export , this table data is not exported and SGEN populates this table.

Hi Naor

If the DB archive is ON it will result into increase in archive log file. My archive log file was not increased so much.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

My db size was increased from 35 GB to 55 GB after SGEN. This does not include archive log size.

Thanks

Hi,

Is doesn't matter with the archive log. Your archive log will release space after the backup or etc.

FYI, our solman on 2008 R2 after SGEN is around 50GB as well.

Cheers,
