How to reduce the risk on PI being Spammed using the mail adaptor

Hello PI experts,

We want to build an interface in which we will be picking the email using the PI sender mail adaptor and transfer it to the ECC system using ABAP proxy.Business has raised a concern say that configuring this Adaptor might expose us to the risk of being used as a spam relay.

What can we do to mitigate the above risk. what option SAP provides to avoid this risk.

Request you help

regards

Soumit

Hi,

create two acounts:

1. for outside world - which will receive all the e-mails and will forward automatically

to the second  account only those with for example specific subject like:

delivery order No. xxxxx

+ make sure that this account can only receive messages from your business partners (e-mail verification)

2. create a second account which will only receive messages from the first one (not from any e-mail account) and configure PI to pull only from this one

3. as of PI 7.31 we have a way to check for viruses in PI messages (virus scanner) which can also be configured for such a case

Hi Michal,

Thanks for you reply. I will have to check with business if they are ok with creation of 2 separate mail box to archive this requirement. Any other option like using S/MIME but i guess it will provide data encryption and wont help in reducing the risk of Spam. Right

Regards

Soumit.

Few cents... Sure you will not use the public domain mails.. If you use business email account and business mail acccount server has installed email spam check tools then you can avoid pretty much spam mails. Search online for email spam check free tools. Run against your mail server. Use PI to poll mails from this account.  This would help.
