Hi all,
I'm new to JDI. I have some basic doubts.
When a Track is created, the runtime systems that can be defined are DEV, CONS, QA and PROD.
My question is DEV & CONS same? In the CMS do I have to provide the same SDM port # and host name?
Can I just define DEV and then transport to QA? (do i really have to define CONS)
Can you please help me understand this,
Thanks in advance
Regards
Priya
Thanks for your responses.
So what I understand is, when you create a track, usually the info for DEV& CONS runtime systems are same. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Also can you explain me the use and difference between DEV and CONS.
Why cant we have just DEV, QA & PROD.
thanks for your help
Regards
Priya

Hello Priya,
Both DEV and CONS have different purpose. Development process you are aware already. Consolidatin will move the code in another workspace (CONS workspace of DTR). It can be taken as a candidate for release which we want to seperate from ongoing development.

Also each runtime system is optional. Defining runtime system only ensures automatic deployment in that system.

Hello Priya,
1. Here are some good documents to start with Development Infrastructure:

<b>SDN Blogs:</b>

2. DEV & CONS represent development and consolidation process. In CMS while configuring the runtime systems all the runtime systems may be different. So the deployment should happen on diferent systems. So the port number will be deployment port 5<instance number>18 of different J2EE.
3. I am not sure about your last question: "Can i just define DEV and transport it to QA". But i somehow feel this should be possible. One way of doing this is defining same runtime system for development and consolidation.

Hi
No need to define the system info in cosolidation, the dev system only will be the consolidation when you import the SCs or release your request(Activity).
