Real time integration between ECC & BPC(EPM 10)

Hello, my client requirement is real time integration between ecc & bpc. (EPM 10). In other words, if they add a profit center in ECC, bpc profit center dimension needs to show almost instantenously. similiarly, if they add a new company code in ECC, it should update entity dimension in BPC(epm 10) close to instantaneously. please advise.

how to install RDS into the BPC NW10 environment, tried searching for any installation guide but couldn't find it.

Is this a restore of environment? Can someone forward any link to the installation guide?

In April of 2012, SAP released an rapid deployment solution (RDS) to handle best practice integration between BPC 10 NW and ECC.   Please take a look at "SAP rapid-deployment solution for new G/L financial planning".  This RDS is free content to licensed customers of BPC 10 NW.        This package includes 1) best practice ECC-based planning model 2) best practice integration 3) best practice baseline planning templates.   SAP also offers an optional fixed price service offering to implement the content, but partners and consultants can implement this RDS, too.   The content is downloadable from SAP Service Marketplace.

This  RDS establishes a best practice method to pull ECC-based information into BPC.  Although, not real-time, it can be setup for frequent loads using BPC Data Manager scheduling.  

Note:  This package will be updated for release in October 2012 to support balance sheet planning and BPC 10 NW on Hana.

Mark, thanks for the detailed response. One question - you said it can be set up for frequent loads with bpc 10 and bw 7.3, how frequent could you update this? I understand the answer varies, but how about delta datasources, 15-20k records per day?

Leveraging the best of BPC 10 NW, the RDS is all setup to allow for full loads and delta loads.   Based on the underlying BPC platform, the RDS should handle 15-20k records per day.

Hi Manny,

I doubt that it is possible. You will have to extract data from ECC to BPC dimensions. The flow would be ECC -> BW -> BPC. Although you can schedule the load so that it runs as per the scheduled frequency. But, updating BPC dimension based on ECC update directly won't be possible, I believe, as it will require some kind of transformation/mapping from ECC to BPC.

The format, attributes or properties (not sure what they are called in an ECC system) won't match with that in BPC.

Hi,

Yes It is possible to load master data from ECC to the BPC Dimension through data manager, Replicate the standard Business Content extractors delivered in ECC in to BW and use them in the datamanger. The load can be scheduled to syncronice the ECC change in BPC.
