PI server routine maintenance tasks

Hello All

I am keen to know about the tasks that need to be performed or checked on a PI server to keep it running at its optimum level. I am talking about basis activities like clearing any log files , memory management , are any configuration to avoid PI server from slowing down. Our PI server was fast when we installed , over time it appears to be slowing down a little. I don't mean message processing wise but general opening of objects in ID and ESR. We are on PI 7.1.

I don't have a basis background but would like to know. Any previous posts , links are documents are greatly appreciated. Looking forward to your advise.
