DB13 option and initSID.sap: Which one takes precedence

Hello,

I know the initSID.sap drives what happens in DB13. However, I want to define whole online backup within the week and whole offline backup on weekends.

If I set the initSID to backup_type = online now, what will happen on the weekend? Do you have to go and change the initSID.sap file back to backup_type = offline? Or i can leave it while DB13 picks the offline option when it starts based on my schedule.

I hope i am clear enough. Please guide.

Hi,

If you use BRBACKUP or BRARCHIVE with command options, these override the corresponding values in the initialization profile.

DB13 backup type overrides even if you set the "backup_type" in the "init<DBSID>.ora" profile. So, if you define whole online backup within the week and whole offline backup on weekends, it will take online backup within the week and whole offline backup on weekends.
