r is not valid for this command.

When using runem.nohup.sh I get all three dumps, core, javacore and snap, but nothing in em.log nor IntroscopeEnterpriseManager.log

Strangely the comman java -fullversion when used by daaadm returns java full version "J2RE 1.3.1 IBM AIX build ca131-20041210. Does this mean I need to change the PATH to the java version for this user?

Also the files above are older than the ones in the /usr/java5 directory (2011).

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Hi Jai,

The EM has been installed and reinstallled following that document. I already have a call open in Marketplace which resolved coredumps that were occurring on starting the EM. However, this is a following error and appears that even though we are usingthe latest version of EM 8 the java supplied with that version is unlikely to be VM 5 based on the date stamp.I have also added the /usr/java5/jre to the path of daaadm to no avail, I stll get the same messageon startup.

Hi Jansi,

I don't appear to have that log file, but checking the note you have given:

    9. AIX 6: The Enterprise Manager fails to start with a javacore. The Java VM bundled with the Enterprise Manager installers is not sufficient to run on AIX6. Locate a Java 5 VM on your host or download the latest Java 5 VM from IBM and configure the EM to use it:

Open the file Introscope_Enterprise_Manager. lax in a text editor and find the line lax.nl.current.vm=jre/bin/java. Replace jre/bin/java with the full path to a Java 5 executable. Note that the required path is a complete path to the Java executable and not to an installation root. Save the file and start the EM via EMCtrl.sh. Note that Java 1.4.2 and earlier cannot be used for the EM!

I have changed the setting in the lax file, increased Xmx value to 2048 (we have 74 agents and growing), added daaadm to the group bin, and it now start and is up and running.

Thank-you for you help.
