Hi prarit,

To apply patches you can use SPAM for add-ons use SAINT transaction

but before proceeding with the patches you should have prerequisites

1)Schedule window(off peak time) and down load the patches from market place

2)check USR/SAP/<SID>/TRANS/EPS/In dircectory has sufficent space

3)check the table space has not up to 90%

4)check you have sufficient space at O/s level

5)update SPAM version

6)patches shold be applied in the sequence of

A)Basis SAPKBXXXX

B)Abap SAPKAXXXX

C)Application SAPKH

D)Hr SAPKE

7)Uncar the file(patch) by using cmd(run)go to the trans diretory where you have downloaded the patches(in TRANS directory you shold have a sapcar.exe executable if you dont have one copy it from USR\SAP\SID\SYS\EXE\RUN) use command "sapcar -xvf file name" befor and after -xvf use space

8)when you uncar the file .ATT & .PAT files will be generated in EPS/In derectory

9)log in 000 client as like DDIC user go to SPAM chose SUPPORT PACKAGE tab then choose LOAD PACKAGES then chose either front end or application

system will read it from EPS/in directory then it will displly that it is in queue then choose DISPLY/DIFINE tab it will show you the total avilabe components like abap, basis, hr, application and addons etc choose the type of component which you have uncared then it will disply that the selected support packge will be applied in background by default select yes then it will start applying the patch

there are more than 25 steps before the patch compltes finally you have to confirm by choosing SUPPORT PACKGE tab then CONFIRM.

Cheers,

Shyam

Hi,

just a little correction. Do not use user DDIC because it cannot change user-owned objects. That can create problems later. It is better to use user BASIS or SAPSPAM. Make sure your user has SAP_ALL rights.

With regards to the tablespaces, what is normally the free space requirement with regards:

1. free size of normal tablespaces

2. size of PSAPROLL

3. size of PSAPTEMP

Thanks

Prarit,

Before starting support packs its better to

1) Upgrade the kernel to latest level , if you cant do that atleast upgrade tp and R3trans

2) Upgrade SPAM/SAINT to latest level.

3) NO apply support packs using transaction SPAM. you nedd to login to client 000 to do this.

Thanks
