SAP EWM PI ISSUE-NOT ABLE TO SORT STORAGE BINS

Former Member

Dear Stalwarts,

I am implementing ECC 6 and EWM 7 .I am facing a typical challenge for PI-CC Configuration.

I have configured following steps :

1)Defined PI Area(PIA1)

2)Defined PI Activities (INVE)

3)Defined AA and Assigning Storage Bins to AA(Defined as PIA2:CC for FM items)

4)Assigned Storage BIns to AA

In this step i have existing Storage BIns assigned to Storage Type and Storage Section which i am using for assigning to newly created PI AA(PIA1).Existiing stocks are lying in these bins.

5)Defined Sort sequence for AA(For the same  storage type i have defined sort sequence)

6)I am stuck at next step i.e Sorting of Storage Bins.

After entering WH no,AA and Activity i as soon i execute it throws me this message:

" For at least one of the trnsfrd act. areas, no sort sequence is defined "

DOES ANYONE HAVE IDEA WHAT MIGHT BE WRONG WITH MY CONFIGURATION.

I AM NOT ABLE TO FIGURE OUT THE SAME.

PLEASE HELP.

DHIREN

Hi,

You may not have defined Sort Sequence such as stack, Leve, Bin Subdivision.SPRO---EWM--MASTERDATA--ACTIVITY AREAS---DEFINED SORT SEQUENCE FOR ACTIVITY AREA.

As per your step 5)Defined Sort sequence for AA(For the same  storage type i have defined sort --Check Last column in this transaction.

Hi Dhiren,

I had same problem during bin sorting. When I checked, unfortunatly the storage bins were not created for one of the storage type. After generating bins, it worked.

Thanks,

Thanks Sandip.

It worked!!

Just wanted to know conceptually that If even for  one storage type i haven't created bins then also sorting would happen or not.

Hi Dhiren,

Sorting is always done at storage bin level, so even if system did not find bin for single storage type in the list it will not do bin sorting.

Thanks,
