Contracts in Limit SC

We are using extended classic scenario & can you please help in following questions

1) In the Limit shopping cart can we assign a contract(Limit SC with contract)

2) In the Limit SC under Item data we get a contract Limit value-What is the funcitonality?

Yes It is possible to refer the contract in Limit SC
