Can someone please tell me a best way to control a universe which is being maintained/ updated by multiple people in one project. How can we make sure no one is working/ updating Universe simultaneously.
We have a same Universe in two different prod environment, being updated by different teams and we would like to ensure that they are in sync.
Please advice.
Thanks.
Hello Syed,
Firstly it is not recommend modifying universes on the production box directly. Changes to the universe must be done on a test box and then migrated across to prod.
On test box.. users can save the local copy of the universe and make all the changes.. Later on these can be copied in one universe and exported across. This is only when multiple users wnat to work on single universe. But if the developers are willing to wait until other devloper finsihes working on a universe you can use Universe Lock
You can use Designer in a multiple user environment in which several
designers can work on the same universes without causing conflicts between
versions.
You can lock a universe so that only one designer at a time can make
modifications on the universe, and a universe can also be assigned a version
number to keep track of changes.

Hi,
in BI4.0 "information design tool" (IDT) there is a feature called Project Synchronization which is exactly for this.
Also, for documents, use LifeCycleManager - sub-Version. (version control)
