DB2 V8 verses V9 for SAP BW using AIx which one is better?

Folks, please suggest any tangible pros and cons between the use of the 2 possible versions (Version 8 & Version 9) of DB2 for SAP BW using AIX.

We want to know if version 9 is stable as it is comparatively new...

Hi,

SAP BW on DB2 9 is currently running on several customer systems without any major issues; also on productive systems.

Some customers saw better performance compared to DB2 V8, especially in DB2 DPF environment due to improved DB2 9 FCM implementation.

DB2 9 has major advantages:

- Deep compression (table size reduction up to 80%)

- FCM performance improvements

- DB2 optimizer improvements

- CLI Thin Clients

- ....

So DB2 9 looks pretty OK for me.
