Hi
Just curious if there are any dependancies/requirements for a client to have to upgrade their Virsa 4.0 (ABAP) to 5.3 (Java) because they are considering upgrading the SAP system from 4.7 to ECC6 please?
Kind regards
David
Hi David,
Release 4.0 is compatible with ECC6. You can have 400_700 upgrade package while upgrading your 4.7 release to ECC6. Refer to SAP note 989368.
989368 - Upgrade to SAP ECC 600 with VIRSA 400_700
On the other hands, 5.3 is the advanced release and have lot of good new features as compared to 4.0. So if customer would like to have latest updated functionality, they can upgrade to 5.3 or new release which is 10.0 (ABAP based).
Thanks & Regards
Neeraj

David:
Just as a side-note, which you have already alluded to, it would not be cost effective to move to 5.3 as this time since SAP Access Control v10 is alreay released. The extra costs in hardware and implementation time would be better spent in moving to AC10, and just for your informaiton, there is an upgrade path from Access Control 4.0 to Access Control 10.0. You would just need to meet the prerequisites listed in the migration guide.
Thanks,
