Import All - Security Roles

Former Member

Hello,

I have a couple of transports that contain few of the same Security Roles:

XXDK900001 - released from Dev on June 1

XXDK900002 - released from Dev on June 5

In the Prod Import Queue the one released 002 is above 001:

#22 - XXDK900002

#25 - XXDK900001

The Basis Admin says that since they will be doing 'Import All' the order will be maintained and changes of 001 will go in before 002 (even though 002 is above 001 in import queue).

Can someone please confirm this?

I checked on help.sap.com, but could not find this property of 'Import All'.

Thanks.

Hi Abhishek,

The sequence can be preserved if we do the mass import at OS level irrespective of how you see them in the transport queue.

I guess your Basis Guy meant  "Mass import at OS level' when he said "import all".

Hello Vishal,

Do you mean

OS> tp import all and SAP GUI -->STMS_IMPORT --> Import All (Big Truck)

are different?

I always thought they are one and the same.

Hello Abhishek,

I was talking about running a batch / script file for mass import with the required sequence of TRs.

import command

tp import <transport number> <SID> CLIENT=<client number> u<0..9> pf=/usr/sap/trans/bin/<transport profile>

I usually follows this in case of Mass imports.

Same thing can be achived with the option import All in STMS, but you have to take care of things in  below  mentioned note. Otherwise you will have wrong sequence of imports with import All option in STMS.

SAP Note 793879 - Incorrect transport sequence after preliminary import

You situation is mentioned in the note.

Thanks,

Vishal

Agree with the Sunny and Ruchit statement...

In this case you need to maintain the same sequence as quality system.

Hi Abhishek,

This is a wrong statement from your Basis Admin. XXDK900002 changes will go in first and then get overwritten by XXDK900001.

Umm... I got 2 opposite replies 😕

@Sunny, they created the Import Queue of Prod manually. In QA, 001 was imported before 002.

Hi,

Then you need to import in same sequence as it was imported in quality system.

Thanks

Hello Abhishek,

You have got the same replies though using different words. You need take a decision on which transport has to go first and which last. Based on that the Basis guy needs to create the import queue/

Hi,

Transport will be imported in production in same sequence as it was imported in quality system. However, transports in import all are done collectively. So, changes that are done latest will be preserved.

Thanks

Hi,

In case of customizing requests, when you do import all then transports are performed collectively not sequentially e.g. if one object exist in multiple transport requests then changes for that object are done collectively and latest version will be maintained.

Thanks
