Getting 'EDI: error during database insert in table EDIDS' error

When we are processing a series of inbound order iDocs, the first one processes fine, but then when attempting to process the second one, we get the error:

'EDI: error during database insert in table EDIDS'.  This occurs in one of our PI->ECC environments, but not in another.

Any ideas?

have you check the locks in IDOC status record table in SM12 ?

is this your custom order IDOC or a standard ORDERS IDOC for creating sales orders with a standard process code? do you have any user exists in this IDOC processing ? maybe the custom code does something to the status records ?

Thanks for the ideas.  I have tried to comment out customizations, but it hasn't helped.  On Monday, I'll see about using SM12.

if you have any than this has to be it as it's not a standard IDOC error that you're seeing

so I'd bet on the custom code,
