WSDL RFC destination in NW Gateway system not working

Former Member

Hallo,

I have problems to create BOR-based BDC Model. The error says that there is something wrong in the settings.

Checking the Technical settings in the BDC-browser, I have found that the RFC-destination IWTNG_BDC_WSDL_DEST returns "not found" after a connection test.
The other RFC-destination IWFND_WSIL_LOCAL_DEST is working fine.

Both destinations have the same host and service.

Is there something wrong with the setup or do I need a certain service defined ?
We do not have an ESR installed - which is not required for BOR-based models.

Kind Regards,

Ewald Hofmann

Hallo Advay,

I have tried to create a BOR based model because I have assumed that for these types of models we do not need to have an ESR: I have read  this discussion about  generating and handcrafting the BDC models: http://scn.sap.com/thread/1983511 .  When I checked this blog again I saw that the explanation is not quite clear about this.

So, even for BOR based models we need to have an ESR, too ?

Ewald

Hi Ewald,

ESR is must for BDC browser tool at design time.

After using the BOR generator tool, a Gateway data model is created. This Gateway data model is then provided to BDC browser to create SharePoint specific BDC model.

Thanks,

Hi Ewald,

You must have a ESR system configured with GW system, for BDC browser to work (its a pre-req for design time). Note that ESR system is not required in test and production systems.

Please check if you BDC browser setting is Active. You have to complete ESR configurations as well.

You can find the BDC browser configurations here  http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-20126.

For further troubleshooting, follow this blog http://scn.sap.com/community/duet-enterprise/blog/2012/05/18/bdc-browser--best-practices
