SAPLPD running as a service - how do I turn on debug?

We run SAPLPD as a service on Windows NT and are having issues. How do I turn on debug?

We have been running SAPLPD as a service on Windows NT for quite a while. Our printers are setup with access type S or U. There is an intermittent issue that takes all of the S & U printers go down at a single facility but we are having trouble pin-pointing the cause.

The first symptom is that the spool file does not actually print on the printer but SAP deletes the spool file anyway. Eventually the SAPLPD connection is lost. When we look in the Windows Application events we see a series of warnings until SAPLPD errors out. Since the first jobs delete from SAP it is very hard to find the real issue.

We are on SAP 4.7, SAP GUI 6.40, SAPLPD 6.28. We have discussed switching to SAPsprint but our BASIS team does not want to do that at this time.

Thanks in advance,

Terri Stafford

Have you tried setting -g9 in the Start Parameters field(Services -> Double-click on the SAPlpd service -> General Tab)

That is how you indicate you want SAPlpd to work in debug moed.

It creates the SAPLPD_F.LOG file.
