Hi IBM i experts!
How to delete SAP system instances without running Sapinst?
Background:
We have moved all systems except for one system (call it XXX) to new IBM i box.
We have changed host name of our SAP server.
We have adapted instance profiles of system XXX to match changed hostname.
There still are many definitions of older SAP instances, which we haven't touched.
Now, we need to move system XXX (ABAP+Java) with SAPinst heterogenous system copy procedure.
Sapinst fails in the phase where is scans for all SAP instances.
I assume it has something to do with the start/instance profiles of the SAP instances still existing on the server.
Now is there an easy way of deleting definitions of SAP systems in iSeries without starting sapinst?
Thanks for your help,
Samuli Kaisanlahti
Hello Samuli,
in your case, I would check the file /usr/sap/sapservices and remove the outdated systems there.
Then, I would delete the following directory trees:
- /usr/sap/<old SID>
- /sapmnt/<old SID>
You could additionally delete the r3siddata and sapsiddb of the old SIDs - that would free up a lot pf space ... but should be not relevant in your case ...
good luck,
Regards
