Saving the Variant as a Default Variant in QA32/QA33

I have a requirement to overwrite the Maximum number of hits in QA32 & QA33 transactions to 1000. Standard SAP variant SAP&TCODE_QA32 is set to 500. I dont want to setup the user variants because users will be accessing this transaction via portal & there is no option for users to select their variant in the portal. So i want to save this change as the default variant for all the users. System is not letting me change the standard variant SAP&TCODE_QA32. Please let me know the possible options.

You may be having a security issue. With the correct security you should be able to do this directly in the variant creation screens of QA32/33.

If you have config security, you can do it via the following path:

Quality Management-->Quality Inspection-->List Definition-->Define Variants (List View Function)

Once in here, double click on the first item, "QA32/QA33 Inspection Lots"

Make your changes and save.
