Hi All,
I had question related to Disaster Recovery Server. I want to create disaster recovery server of my live production system. I am using ECC 6.0 with DB2 database. Actually I want to take backup of Live Production server simultaneously with minimum time span in transaction i.e. my disaster Server will be as same as Live Production System. In other words I want to create mirroring or replica of my production system online. How can I do this?? Please consult me.
your help is really appreciated..
Thanks in Advance
Regards,
Amit.
Hello Amit,
There are quite a few ways of doing it. One of them has been listed by Juan. However your DR shouldn't be just database but should also have your SAP.What it means all file system level changes need to be replicated. Again this DR ought to be at a different site/datacenter and not the same one where your Live production is. That is what actually is a true DR.
There are many softwares availables that allow DR replication to happen. .Check with your datacenter management folks as well.
With regards.
Ruchit

Hello Ashwin,
Thanks for your reply
Currently Operating System of Production Server is MS Windows Server 2003
SAP System ECC 6.0 SR2
Database Version: IBM DB2 DB6 9.1.0007.
SAP System is Single Stack.
Network Type is LAN Bandwidth
And we want real time replication between Primary $ Secondary node.
From Current Operating System we are Planning to Migrate om Windows Server 2008 and we also upgrade database to version 9.7.
We are upgrading SAP ECC 6.0 to EHP5.
So can please consult me
Thanks.
Dear Mr. Amit,
Before DR setup, I would recommend you to go for the Upgrade first.
If your database version is 9.1 then, it's already out of standard "End-of-Support by 2012-04-30.
(Note 1168456 - DB6: End-of-Support Dates)
DB2 version 9.7 is having improved features for DR setup.
For your upgrade case, you can use following compatibility layer.
DB2 FOR LUW 9.7 64-BIT | WINDOWS SRV 2008 R2/X64 64BIT | SAP KERNEL 7.21 EXT 64-BIT UC (maintained until 12/31/2017) |
Let me know once your upgrade gets done. I will guide you for DR.
Kind rgds,
Ashwin Mane
Dear Mr. Amit,
Kindly go through following link. It had helped me.
That process to setup a Standby server is well documented in help.sap.com.
Read Replicated Standby Database for DB2 for z/OS, check the subsections for synchronous and asynchronous.
