Archiving and deletion

Hi

I nunderstnad that archiving / deleting is a 2 step process -

1.  specify the retention period

2. Schedule the delete/archive job.

My Q -  if the retention period is say 1 day and the delete job frequency is 2 days.

does this mean that even if that message has past the retention period ( 1 day ) it will actually be deleted only when the job runs ( i.e 2 days ??? )???

That is correct. The parameter only defines the age messages need to have to be touched in the next deletion run. But without actually executing the deletion job, noting will happen. For this reason the configuration you describe is not a very clever one. The job frequency should always be higher than the retention time. So if you have retention time of one day you could run it every 8 hours, for example.

Hi Hema,

when ever delete and archive job runs it will not delete messages of the previous day.

This is what it means.
