Item Category usage problem ??

Hi All

While creating sales order, Item category is not determining properly.

The Error is "No item category available (Table T184 - Sales Ord - NORM - FREE - ZTAN)"

The Config is mentioned Below:

SaTy     ItCGr     Usage     HLev Cat   Item cat

xxxx     NORM                                    ZTAN

xxxx     NORM     CHSP     ZTAN         ZTAN

Question 1: Since there is no cofig availble for usage FREE, then how system giving this error msg?

Question 2: From where exactly system comes to know about the USAGE ?

Question 3: Is there any other defination or assignment to be done aprt from Define usage, VOV4 & Material Master (Sales org 2)?

Hello Kunalesh,

Item usage is fetched from Customer Material info records(CMIR). Check in VD53.

Hi Kunalesh,

May be you are using Free Good Determination. As you are maintaining Custom Item Category for this you should maintain Item Category Determinationa as said by Mr. Siva. Item Category Determination should be for Main Item & Free Good Item. Like

OR     NORM     NIL          NIL          TAN

OR     NORM     FREE     ZTAN        TANN/ZTANN

hi Kunalesh,

you can check the vov4- go to new entrys maintain like this

sales doc type          item cat group          usage          high level item catagory     item catagory         

OR                              NORM                        FREE          ZTAN                                   TANN

you can check the usage of item catagory in VD53 t-code itself.
