Hello All,
We are migrating our SAP systems from Windows 2003 to AIX 6.1 keeping the same database oracle (source 10.2.0.2 and target 11.2.0.3). We are doing it in the following phases.
1) Install standard vanilla SAP system SAP R/3 Enterprise 4.7 Set2 SR1 with standard oralce 11.2.0.3 using SAPInst.
2) Copy the existing SAP system to a windows staging server. (To reduce the time/risk and network load)
3) Migrate the staging server database from windows to AIX 6.1.
I have gone through the heterogeneous system copy guide where it was speaking about R3load procedures.
Could you please explain in detail,
1) what all the pre-requisites are to be checked.
2) Table splitting and other downtime minimizing techniques. (our database size is 600GB)
3) Difference between R3load procedure and SAPinst Procedure.
If possible, could you please send me the link/documentation explaining the same.
Thanks,
Nick
1. Please go through the SAP system copy guide for your Release.
2. Since your release is 640 ,so you need to run migration monitor manually and not use sapinst for export and import of data. You need to select "Start Migration Monitor manually" option in SAPINST.
Also you can download the migration tools SPLIT.SAR and MIGMON.SAR from the SAP service marketplace. When you extract the 2 files , you get a pdf file in each which describes the usage of the tools.
3. The SAPINST procedure and R3load procedure are different. SAPINST invokes R3load in 640 release . R3load is the utility that does the actual data loda/unload from/into the database. If MIgration monitor is is used , it has to be called manually as stated above and this would invoke R3load instead of SAPINST.
You can go through the TADM70 document for more information on the process.
