Hello all,
I am in the process of preparing for an PI 7.0 upgrade to PI 7.30 EHP1
I have downloaded the upgrade master DVD from the SAP Service Marketplace
for my OS platform - Solaris SPARC on Oracle - media:
EXE 51042225_36 NW 7.31 Kernel, Inst.Master, Upgr.Master Solaris
SPARC64 1/3
RAR 51042225_37 NW 7.31 Kernel, Inst.Master, Upgr.Master Solaris
SPARC64 2/3
RAR 51042225_38 NW 7.31 Kernel, Inst.Master, Upgr.Master Solaris
SPARC64 3/3
I then extracted the files successfully with
unrar x <archive name(exe-file)> <targetdir>
as per note 886535
But when I go into the created 51042225 directory, there is no STARTUP
file which is needed for me to start the upgrade. I executed a search and
the STARTUP file is nowhere in the created 51042225 where it should be.
The size of the files is correct at download and I have no error messages
when I unrar the files. It finishes with "ALL OK" message.
-rw-r--r-- 1 root sapsys 1000000000 Jun 10 09:50
51042225_SOLARIS_SPARC_part1.exe
-rw-r--r-- 1 root sapsys 1000000000 Jun 10 09:51
51042225_SOLARIS_SPARC_part2.rar
-rw-r--r-- 1 root sapsys 188759365 Jun 10 09:51
51042225_SOLARIS_SPARC_part3.rar
I do not have any space issues neither.
Please advise.
Many thanks
Andreas
Hello,
You have to start the installtion as described in the guide. I have just copied the extract from the guide under the section " Starting the software update manager GUI "
Starting the GUI on UNIX Hosts
Starting the GUI on the Host with the Primary Application Server Instance
1.
Open a new window as user <sapsid>adm.
2.
Start the GUI by executing the script <update directory>/sdt/exe/DSUGui.DŠƒ <ü
Starting the GUI on Other UNIX Hosts
1.
So that the GUI can also be used on other hosts, create a directory on this host and copy the following files to it or mount them with NFS:
NOTE
You must keep the directory structure.
<update directory>/sdt/libDŠƒ <fi <update directory>/sdt/exe/DSUGui
2.
Start the GUI by executing the script DSUGui.
--------
The initial GUI will open with 6 options . From Welcome to Summary. Under the road map step Execute Process you will get the actual EHPI road map steps like
Initilization , extraction ect . So please do not be confused. Start with EHPi installion as described in the guide.
You can get the necessary guide be following the link
Service.sapm.com/instguides -> SAP NetWeaver -> SAP NetWeaver 7.3 -> Upgrade . In the right side of the screen you will see th below text and links. Follow then for the guide.

This should help.

Hi,
In my opinion, you need to download the latest version of SUM (1.0 SP4 perhaps).
This archive should have the STARTUP you are looking for. Check the SUM guide at:

Hi all,
I have a similar problem with the next step. i am upgrading PI 7.11 to PI 7.31. SUM is up and running, source release has ebeen patched to the proper packages and kernel, all media has been downloaded and is available for SUM.
But ...In step 3 "Select Target" I have to select my target I really do not know what to do - which directory do I have to select? I use the upgrade master / upgrade export DVDs from Service Marketplace
Neither in the 731 Upgrade Guide nor in the SUM Guide I can find what I have to do here if I am using upgrade media instead of a stack file from Solman.
Regards
Mike

Hi Andreas,
Startup should be available in Kernel Media. Have you try to run the part1.exe in windows first, then check the content.
