When I'm in a Work Order, I can go to the Operations tab, move Columns around, click on the 'Configuration' button in the upper right of the Operations list box and then put in a new variant name and save as Standard. When I exit and come back in I see those changes as it's using my new variant as the Standard.
However, if I do the same process under the Components tab, it does say that it saved the Variant and is using it as Standard. However, when I exit and come back in my changes are gone and it's back the way it was. If I again click on the Configuration button, it shows that it's using my Variant but the changes I saved with that variant are gone. This is strange behavior to me.
Why is it not showing my changes I saved with that variant, even though it says it's using my variant? How can I make this happen?

In the component tab page after the variant creation, save the variant.
In the choose variants screen, the default will be as mentioed below:
Current settings : Basic setting
Standard settings : Basic setting
Change the standard setting to your "Variant", use as standard setting check box "Checked" and Save.
This will take effect of your default setting
