Dear colleagues,
We have Solution Manager 7.1 SP4. It is used to monitor NW 7.31 Business Process Management application in productive usage deployed on Java only system. Now we are able to monitor predefined Business Process Management metrics as described in 4.4.8 SAP CE/BPM-Specific Monitoring https://websmp204.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700000064532012E
Alerts are enabled for process and task instances and we can monitor them in Alerts inbox.
E-mail notifications are enabled in Solution Manager (details: http://scn.sap.com/message/13302866#13302866)
What we are still missing is e-mails triggered by alerts.
Following Basic configuration document https://websmp203.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700000482292011E/SM71_Configuration.pdf I found that we have to do it in Basic configuration->configure SAPconnect 3.3 so I have specified mail host, port, domain, SMTP active (screenshot below).
Would you please give me some hints or document how to achieve it?

To trigger e-mails as a result of alerts for BPM, you would need to activate the technical monitoring against the NW 7.31 system. You can start this by accessing SOLMAN_SETUP -> Technical Monitoring. Pay particular attention to step 2.4 and the Notifications tab. Enabling this against your system should trigger the email alerts you're after.

Hi Josh,
I read document you sent me and when i try to add global mail recipients in SOLMAN_SETUP -> Technical Monitoring->Notification->Maintain Global Recipients I receive "No POWL object types are assigned to you. Please inform your system administrator." so I was searching in SCN and I found similar discussion http://scn.sap.com/thread/3148955 which resolves the issue with http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/SMAUTH/UC00042.
Now following the guidance in last link on step 4.2 I do not see items as displayed on screenshot but I have "no queries found ..." instead as displayed on screenshot below.
Can you give me some hint or I have to trigger new discussion?

And btw no matter that the last step 4.2 is not executed now I do not see any more message "
"No POWL object types are assigned to you. Please inform your system administrator".
Another issue which I found during configuration is that reporting tab in "Alerts Inbox" is empty so I not able to send notification fro alert inbox manually
It seems like working with ABAP system is tricky. Finally I managed to sent manually mail notifications from alert inbox.

I ran into a simuliar problem. Could not get any mails sent from solution manager. In my SLG1 log i found that the E-mail adres for user SOLMAN_BTC was not maintained. This was the solution.
"E-mail address for the sender SOLMAN_BTC is not maintained; use the transaction SU01"
