Reference Keyfigures

Hi all,

I am very new to SAP BI. I have searched about Reference Keyfigures in all ways but i could not able to get a justify answer.Can anyone tel me what are these Reference Keyfigures and Why it is used with an example.

Hi Bhavya,

Reference Key Figure

With a reference key figure, the original value is filled from the referenced key figure. However, it is calculated differently with this key figure (either with exception aggregations or with Elimination in the query). When creating update rules, a key figure with a reference is not offered. Therefore, it is not possible to create update rules.

This document helps us in learning reference key figures in detail with an example.

Reference Key Figures are calculated differently in two ways

a)      Exception aggregation: As the name signifies it is used to aggregate the result of a key figure in a different manner. It aggregates the key figures with reference to time characteristic.

We can use reference Key figure at Info Provider level to achieve this.

b)      Elimination: Here we need to specify a characteristic pair which has be eliminated in a query.
