Field name change ( pls respond ASAP)....

Hi All.....

We have a field named "Train Station" in Customer master control data.....

now we need to change that "Train Station" name to "Return Ship to number"....How can we do that functionally(that is with out any abap changes)....

Hi Ravi,

For this you need to first know the Data element(Train station), you need to change the data element Field Labels, not in SE11, but in CMOD, where in menu you have to select documentation or Label and specify the Data element and then changes, after this u need to click on Restore customer version, since i dont have

authorization for CMOD, not able to specify the exact path, kindly explore it yourself.

CMOD should be a better idea, the menu path is

GOTO -> Text Enhancements -> Keywords ->Change

with CMOD, the data element text changes will not be overwriten by upgrade. 😛

Please also check note 302116 incase if you found the field label of some data element can not be modified via CMOD. But this should not be the case for BAHNS (Train station).

The Problem is solved......one more question i have is ...... i have changed the name and it is appearing on screen...but only half name is appearing....as the new one is longer than the older one...so their a way to solve this......

And santosh one more question to you...what is the use of "restore cust version"

Hi,

Regarding 'Restore Cust. Version', Later when you want the old SAP standard to be displayed you can click on Restore SAP version, so that it would be like backup.

when you change the properties of the data element there is are many option like short, medium, long, assign proper lengths to all these attributes.

Hi Ravi,

Not so sure whether "change the data element field label" can be an acceptable solution for you or not.

1.in customer master data, use F1 and then technical info to check the data element for this field;

2.se11, open this data element, and change "field label";

Hi Ravi,

Do you mean the field is still not open for changes?

Do you have modification assistant switched on? Please check whether there are several buttons on the tool bar under change mode in se11:

- one of them are "change subobject" (some small flags on the button icon);

Please put cursor on the Field label text (for xd03 case, might be Medium text line), and click on this button, then make changes in the popup, and activate the data element.

This might be a modification, please kindly note this. 😛
