How to install local J2EE Engine for NTW4 Dev Studio ?

Former Member

We installed a full Web As 640 ABA+J2EE stack9 , and activated all the JDI components (DTR, CBS, CMS).

NOw we instaleld on local pc the Developer Studio and are trying to begin teh develop of java packages.

We are not able to activate the debug on the remote J2EE ENgine.

According the HelpOnline we should install a local J2EE Engine in order to be able to do debugging.

The problem is taht nowhere is written where to find out this software and how to install.

Anyone has some experience on that ?

Hi,

You can install developer workplace on local machine. There is a installaion option in Installation master --> maxdb --> developer workplace.

However you can activate debug mode on remote engine. You can use config tool and select debug for server or use NWDS J2EE window and select server switch to debug.

Hi Gianfranco,

Actually, you have already installed all the components you need. The developer workplace consists of an IDE for developing your applications (that is, your local Developer Studio), Web AS (on which to test and deploy your applications - which in your case is on a remote machine), and JDI (which centrally provides a consistent development environment). All you need is to set up your system.

Hi Viliana, we acting in a multi user environment and I supposed that is better that every developers works on a local j2ee engine for at least 2 reasons:

- deploy

- debug

and then release and share its tested DC in a DTR.

What do you think about ?

Hi Gianfranco,

I see. Then, you are right. You need a local J2EE Engine.

There is a guide how to install a Developer Workplace at:

http://service.sap.com/instguidesnw04 -> Installation -> Dev Env -> Inst. Guide - SAP NetWeaver Developer Workplace Stack x

Hope, that will help.

And I guess, the following might be of some help after you complete the installation: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/92/fa369fb68e004598f246494665a49e/frameset.htm

Hi,

You don't need to install a local J2EE Engine. For how to use the remote debugging, see http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/a8/def86ab54da5418a3575373934ca00/frameset.htm
