Hi,

Assemble to order is another scenario on CTO. Here is the link for the PDF on Assemble to order, which has more details about the required settings.

Ritu,

You have posted this question in an APO forum, yet the link you have cited asks about Configure to order in ERP.

"Configure to order" is a generic term that can mean many different things.  The following link probably contains the info you seek.

http://help.sap.com/saap/sap_bp/BBLibrary/HTML/147_ERP606_EN_IN.htm

If this info is not suitable, please list the specific scenario required by your project.

Hi,

I would like to know does variant configuration and CTO more or less similiar?

My scenario is that I had to configure parts for Notebook with parts like Ram,Hard disk etc.

So can I go a head with variant configuration?

Since my client is using the term CTO , I am getting confused..

Thanks

Ritu,

Since my client is using the term CTO , I am getting confused..

If a consultant does not understand his client, and is unable to ask for explanations, he will not be a consultant for very long.  You MUST become familiar with your client's requirements IN DETAIL.  It is your responsibility to ask him what he wants.  Over and over and over and over, until you are sure you fully understand him.  And that doesn't mean that you have to be satisfied with his answers if all he gives you are acronyms and buzzwords.

An incomplete or vague set of requirements is the first step in a failed project.  Don't let this happen to you.

I have seen people use the terms MTO, ETO, and MTO/Variant all to mean 'configure to order'.  Myself, I consider CTO to be MTO/Variant.  However, what I think is irrelevant.  The only opinion that matters in your project is the opinion of the client.
