Removing a composite role from a user

I've been asked to remove a custom composite role from several users, but the users cannot be selected within pfcg-->user panel, nor can the role be selected within suim. any ideas as to what could be cuasing this issue?

maybe your custom composite role is part of another custom composite role. i would check one user (SU01) and see which role is assigned. if the custom composite role you want to remove from this user is "blue" then you cannot remove it, because it is contained by another composite role.
