Difference Between SCM and SRM?

Hi Experts,

I am newbie in SAP. I have confusion in SCM and SRM technologies . As per my understanding SRM deals with our suppliers(Vendors) from which we are getting services and material.

At the same time is SCM is related to our Suppliers or Customers? Because from Suppliers we are getting Supplies and to customers we are providing supplies.

So as this which type of Supply we are taking about?

Please explain in general wordings?

Points will rewarded for correct explanation.

Thanks in advance.

Dear,

SCM deals with the Long term, medium term and short-term business planning methods It deals with design, planning , execution, control, and monitoring of supply chain activities with a object of synchronizing supply and demand and measuring performance globally.  Supply Chain Management spans all movement and storage of raw materials, work-in-process inventory, and finished goods from point-of-origin to point-of-consumption.

SRM deals with the micro management of business processes more lined with supplier relations in terms of procurement activities SAP Supplier Relationship Management (SAP SRM) provides you with innovative methods to coordinate your business processes with your key suppliers and make them more effective. SAP SRM enables you to optimize your procurement strategy, to work more effectively with your supplier pool, and thus to gain long-term benefits from all your supplier relationships.
