Other than challenges, I would say the IMP points you need to consider from utilities business point of view:-
1) Chalk down the data model perfectly like BP-Contract Account-Multiple contracts scenario
2) Meter -Sub meter scenario
3) Unmetered scenario if any
4) MRU-Portion- regional structure requirement of client
5) Check if client needs Joint Invoicing/ Collective billing functionalities
6) What type of MR uplaod is required
7) Are there any interfaces
😎 Are there any third parties involved
9) What kind of validations and register relationships are required.
10) If electrical industry- is their CT/PT involved.
11) If water industry what process is there for waste water billing.
12) How the estimation process is carried at actual by client.
Hope these few points will give some inputs to think on/note down.
