RZ20 Paging monitors on AS/400

Hi,

We are running several SAP systems on an IBM i at V6R1.

All these systems are monitored centrally by Solution manager and can send alerts.

I'm wondering what are Paging monitors based on?

I'm comparing the values to those observed in IBM i's monitors and it does not fit.

Thresholds are different in PageFaults, Page_Out and I'm not sure how I should set these.

I'm not even sure it is relevant to watch those on an IBM i machine.

Can someone help me out please?

Thanks,

Netweaver 7.01 (Kernel 7.01) running the following products: ECC, BW, EP, SCM, SolutionManager

Netweaver 7.3 (Kernel 7.20) running the following products: CUA

OS: I5/OS V6R1M1 (formerly known as OS/400)

Hello Pascal,

All Monitors available under SAP CCMS Monitoring infrastructure are nothing but nodes called MTE (Monitoring Tree Elements).

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/c4/3a7da1505211d189550000e829fbbd/Image45.gif

As shown above, each Data Supplier is attached to a monitoring object. Each monitoring object is representated by a MTE Class assignment which defines the attributes and methods that can be used to perform an action related to the object being monitored.

We can change the monitoring mechanism for an object by appropriately modifying the MTE class associated with it.

For example, Page_out has an MTE associated with it. To change the frequency of measurement or to change associated Alerts, you can do the following:

Execute transaction RZ20

Expand the node SAP CCMS Monitor Templates

Further expand Operating System-><Hostname_SID_INSTANCENumber>->Paging

Here, you should be able to select the checkbox for node Page_Out and then click on Properties.

You can then switch to change mode from tool bar and set properties as you wish, you will find that they are self explanatory.

More detailed documentation is available

Hope that helps,

The link was helpful, but not the answer I'm looking for.

The Page_Out MTE reports values that cannot be confirmed from OS side.

I have received alerts but on OS side I could not see any problematic periods in the Paging History.

So I'm asking again, what exactly this MTE is reading?  SAPOSCOL data? ST03?

Thanks

Hello Pascal,

It uses SAPOSCOL data, hence it wont match OS pageout values. OS page out values will be measured at different intervals then those of SAPOSCOL.
