      How to upgrade SAP ECC6 EHP4 to EHP5 using maintenance optimizer?

Here is a bird eye view for your query.

-2. Downtime Phase requires 4-5 hours but after that SGEN requires the time as per your system

-1. Stop Change management, transports (atleast a week before), release all pending transports, clear all the updates since go live(SM13) etc.. as per EHPi (EHP Installer)

0. You need atleast 200 GB Free space in target system for all stuff (patches, support packs, EHP5 media, tablespaces etc..) as per requirement by EHPi

1. Attach your target system with SOLMAN (using tcode SMSY), SOLMAN must be at Level 25 (ST-400) and at SPAM/SAINT Level 45 for EHP5

2. Run Tcode DSWP (mopZ) to download EHP5 and stuff for the target which will also create XML file for your target

3. Update SPAM/SAINT to the latest in target

4. Asign SAP_ALL to DDIC in target's 000 client

5. Download EHP installer (Latest one) and put it in target, execute the EHPinstaller

6. EHPi will let you know wht to do further

Add system in Solution Manager (this includes product system, assgning logical component,creating solution etc)

run tcode solman_workcenter

go to change management tab

click on New Maintenance Transaction on left side

choose appropriately

and download media files and generate stack xml.
