Error while starting JSPM

Hi All,

While starting JSPM in SRM 7.01 We are getting error:

java.lang.ClassCastException: nulljava.lang.ClassCastException

One Point===> We have only one DataModel XML File: Jspm.JSPM.DataModel.xml

----I also checked help.sap.com, no solution

---No helpful SAP Notes were found.

---We can start VA, Config Tool, SDM.

---System Variable Set properly.

JSPM version is 7.02.9.0.3.

OS- Windows Server 2008 R2 64 bit

DB- IBM DB2 9.7.04

Please help us to solve this error.

Please check whether the password for the SDM and for the user "Administrator" (by a "Java Add-In for ABAP" for the user "j2ee_admin") is the same in the configtool under

- secure store

    =  "Secure Store Data"

Did you go through DETECT_SYSTEM_PARAMETERS.LOG and DETECT_SYSTEM_COMPONENTS.LOG?

I had once got a similar error due to /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/exe/uc/hpia64/sapmanifestdb.mf file not accessible.

Thanks for ur reply.

I checked sapmanifestdb.mf has proper permissions.

But I did not get DETECT_SYSTEM_PARAMETERS.LOG and DETECT_SYSTEM_COMPONENTS.LOG log files in j2ee/JSPM/log

I want to know whether I am searching at correct place or not? If not where these files are?

Hi,

These files are present in /j2ee/JSPM/log folder.

Perhaps the JSPM did not get to the stage of writing these files.

Hi Ishan,

Cannot  see any error in the log files.

Can you check if the Admin( j2ee_admin or Administrator) user exists and is not locked.

Is the SAP* user activated by any chance?

Hi,

Can you check if you comply with the following pre-requisites for starting JSPM:

1) All server processes on the Java instance are started before you start JSPM on this instance.

2)Directories and files have not been deleted, renamed, or created in the following directories and their subdirectories: /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/exe and /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/profile. Otherwise, JSPM cannot detect the kernel and the system profiles, and cannot be started. If a backup of the kernel and the system profiles has been required, it has been created in a different directory.

3)You have logged on to the operating system as a <SID>adm user. If you have not done this, you must switch to it before starting to use JSPM. On systems, where there is no <sid>adm user, you can run JSPM with different user provided it has enough permissions.

4)You have logged to the JSPM with a AS Java user with enough permissions to deploy.

Hello Ishan,

Is your error solved.

I understand that this is the first time you are starting your JSPM. If not correct me.

Can you try upgrading your JSPM patch using SDM.

Hi,

The error is still not solved.

I started JSPM one time and upgraded my JSPM to patch level 9 from 3.

But now it is not starting.

Previously I started it using command:

runas /profile /user:<domain or host>\<sid>adm <full path to JSPM\go.bat

Hi

can you check if there are any space issues in usr/sa[/SID. because when JSPM reads the contents it needs some 3 times more space then the actual archive content.

Sap help note says, “If the total size of the archives is X MB, there must be about three times X MB free disk and there must be at least enough free disk space to extract all software deployment archives inside the SCAs. ”

and also check where is the JSPM folder path. is it under j2ee/JSPM ?

There is no free space issue.

And JSPM resides in same folder u mentioned.

I think issue is, as I said earlier,

We have only one DataModel XML File: Jspm.JSPM.DataModel.xml

Jspm.DataModel.xml and Jspm.J2EE.DataModel.xml are not generated.

can u delete

Jspm.DataModel.xml 

- Jspm.J2EE.DataModel.xml

- Jspm.JSPM.DataModel.xml

and give JSPM another try.

Please make sure the rest of the XMLs are in place otherwise JSPM won't start

What is the version of your kernel?

Have you performed kernel upgrade recently? If your kernel is old, can you perform a kernel upgrade and check.
