material entry control

Dear sd gurus i have 2 doubts

           1) material entry control (vov8) it means material order number should be interpreted in the sales order

                       A. enter with material number and product catalog information

                       B. enter with material number and  catalog information

COULD U EXPLAIN ABOVE GIVEN FIELD

Material entry type- useful for sales from catalogue- retail/internet sales

Through this field you can control how you are going to enter material(Product) in the sales order.

If you put it as blank we can enter the material number in the sales order.

If you put option "A" you need to enter Material order no and product catelog system will not allow you to enter material number in that perticuler order type.

If you put "B" you csn able to enter material number and product catelog in that sales order.

Catalogue / merchant / internet sells a wide variety of household and personal products, with many emphasizing jewelry. Unlike a self-serve retail store, most of the items are not displayed; customers select the products from printed catalogs in the store and fill out an order form. The order is brought to the sales counter, where a clerk retrieves the items from the warehouse area to a payment and checkout station

In sales orders, you normally enter the R/3 article number for the product being purchased. For mail order catalog sales, however, you may have article order numbers (item numbers) that are associated with specific product catalogs. For example, R/3 can add the catalog code (source code or product catalog identifier) to the article number according to certain algorithms. This way you can track which catalog, or which pages within a given catalog, generated the
sales order.

Dear Venu ,

Its controling of document type how its behave in Sales Order or quotation , or delivery or billing not for the material control

And if item catagory its also affect the sale order deliver billing

Material control is on Material master

Hope its help u to understand better
