HI all

I am bit new to SAP Demand Planning. I have heard about process chains and started googling it , but i couldnt understand much. As far as my understanding, Background jobs are very much crucial in APO DP and SNP and these can be scheduled through SM36. However , SAP 4.0 has come up with a new functionality to schedule the background jobs , which is a Process Chain. Process Chains are far better than SM36 as we can create the dependencies here. This is how much i understood. Can any1 explain Process chain in more deep and how to create them in system with an example.

Thanks

Emani

Hi Emani,

The following SDN link will surely help you in getting a clear picture of process chains in DP.

Hello, Just to add, process chain's technology is in fact a BW technology. We just use it in APO to plan our jobs. Maybe you can get more help on process chain if you go to BW forum.

Hi Emani,

Well, what I can say is that the Process Chain might be complex depending the number of jobs you have and also the reports/programs you have scheduled on the chain.

Please go into the documentation below, I believe it can help to create a process chain in SCM:
