Cost Forecast

We have the scenario as follows:

We do not have activity-assigned networks & we have only WBS elements hierarchy up to level 3. Hence in our case the forecast consists of actual costs through the period closed and expected costs for the subsequent periods and years. The actual costs are obtained from standard reports. The forecast costs are developed from prior period forecasts/historical data or it is developed from scratch. These forecast costs that are downloaded are manipulated in Excel spread sheet. The forecast are maintained in Excel spreadsheets (Tab De-limited File) & then uploaded into SAP through t-code CJR2.

The users are not comfortable with download and upload method of forecasted cost and wish to know alternate method. Even users are ready to manually update of forecast in project. Is that possible?

Hi Ninad,

yes, it is possible with CNFOWB ( Forecast Workbench), which has been implemented with EhP3. See the consulting note 1635249 for more details.  If you have low release, then it is not possible, because

CJ9L (Project Forecast) only support the activity-based scenario.

Kind regards,

Zhenbo

Hi,

You can use the tac CJ9L for cost forecast which will let you know the fnformation on network activities what would be expected completed cost for that activity and estimated costs at completion (this costs are summation of already costs incurred and expected costs).

Prerequisites must be, you must schedule your project because cost forecast does not schedule.

CO version must be defined (fore cast version).

Also, while on cost forecast screen, you must select the key date for cost forecast i.e., select the current date othewise system defaults the first of day of the current month, in that case the output would incorrect since system calculating costs from the past date.
