Hi Neni,

SMD is the tool which help to collect the statistical data and send to SAP solution manager to analyse system performance, errors, etc.

RCA is root cause analysis is the place where you can drill down to the collected informattion(Which come from SMD or other tools)  and find the exact cause of your problem and fix.

SMD is one of the tool which give the required data for Root casue analysis in solution manager

please view the places here to get the guide for RCA implementation

https://websmp208.sap-ag.de/rkt-solman -> select solman 7.1 -> Technical operations

Root cause analysis

Please check

Hi Jansi,

Thanks you very much for the answer.

1.So Its required to do the SMD configuration in SolMan first then only we can do RCA right?

2.E2E and RCA are the same?

Hi Neni,

yes, you had to do all the steps stated in solman_Setup in 7.1 for smooth go of RCA implemtation.

E2E is the term we use in Application life cycle management to refer End to End Scenarios like

End to End Implemetation ofRCA, End to End Implementation of Implementation of ChaRM.

Hope you understood,

Thanks
